Design & Layout Class

I am currently taking a design & layout class. This class teaches me how to approach the concept of design. Each week the professor assigns a new project. Stay tuned for what each week has to offer.

Assignment #4: Hugh Simms GQ ad

The previous week's assignment required me to work with a very large company. This week I had to create an ad to be seen in GQ magazine for Hugh Simms.

Assignment #3: Target Halloween Billboards

For this assignment, the objective was to create a halloween campaign for Target with three billboards. I had to create something that was on brand using only the colors red and white. This was the best I could convey halloween without using orange and black.

The concept: Spending halloween with your pets.

Assignment #2: Rebrand a designer Jean

My second assignment and I had two weeks to execute my ideas. For this assignment I had to rebrand a luxury jean brand. I chose to rebrand Nudie Jeans. They are a jean company that focuses on raw denim. This is the new logo I created for them.

The concept behind my idea:
The best raw demin are made in Japan so I wanted to create an image that had a touch of Japanese tradition. A strong symbol in the Japanese culture is the typhoon wave. I took this image and created the backdrop for the new Nudie back tag.

Along with creating new tags for the jeans, I also had to create a new shapping bag. The top of the bag would be lined with leather and the handles are also wrapped wrapped with leather. Since the bag will be made with premium materials, people will most likely want to keep the bag and therefore use it again in the future. Free advertising for the brand when customers re-use the bag for other activities.

These are the new hang tags for the Jeans.

Assignment #1: Rolling Stone spread

My first assignment. I was suppose to pick a celebrity and create an editorial spread for the Rolling Stone magazine. I had to create something using the typical Rolling Stone red and black color scheme. I chose Lindsay Lohan, not because I like her but the photograph I chose was so beautiful.
